Retha Robertson, Vice President of the Friends of the Woodland Public Library invited me to be their guest speaker during "Love Your Library" on Thursday, February 13, at a 6:00 p.m. reception and 6:30 p.m. presentation on The Dordogne Deception and author's writing style, inspiration for the book and discuss  books in progress.  Woodland Public Library is the oldest and one of the last functioning Carnegie-funded libraries in CA.  It's on the national Register of Historic Places and a contributing property of the Downtown Woodland Historic District. Located at 201 1st Street, Woodland, CA.  Woodland's library began with ice cream socials and book donations from the community members in 1874!

In 1903, a grant from Andrew Carnegie was received for the construction of the library.  The first grant from Andrew Carnegie was $10K, followed by another $12K in 1915.  In 1929 another expansion occurred and in 1985 voters approved a $2.5 million expansion completed in 1988.

I'm looking forward to seeing and speaking in this lovely library.
