Enjoyed watching Simon Wood today on The Story Connection on Access Sacramento. He was Danna Wilberg's guest in the studio immediately before my taping. I was able to see Simon's interview live, and it helped me understand the format and how Danna conducted the relaxed, insightful interview. Will let you know when my taping will air. Danna said it will be coming up soon! I'm more nervous now than I was during the taping!
OMG! Kevin Costner holding me and my book, dedicated to him. (When I wrote The Dordogne Deception, I had mentally cast Kevin Costner in the role as handsome retired detective, Brett Maxfield.) Now to hear the performance ! Not only does Kevin look unbelievable in person, he has a great voice and a great band. He sang, pretty much non-stop, all night long to a totally sold out crowd at Harris Performing Arts in Folsom. There were video clips of all of his movies before he came on stage, reminding all of us in the audience why we were thrilled to support him, and how much enjoyment his movies have been over the years. He's funny in person, totally engaging, down to earth, and ridiculously handsome, and tall.
Sherry Joyce shared Kevin Costner & Modern West's photo.12 hrs · Dreams do come true, and not just Field of Dreams either. When I wrote THE DORDOGNE DECEPTION, I wrote my protagonist detective character as Brett Maxfield, who was Kevin Costner in every way in my mind. He will be at Harris Performing Arts on 8/8. I will get to meet him back stage and give him a signed copy of my book!!!! Due to the generosity of friends who like to make impossible dreams come true, we will be their guests, and then have a chance to see him perform with his band. Who knew one could be a groupie at this age? The first movie star I have ever met. And yes, I will change outfits a hundred times thinking about what to wear! I'm so thrilled and will be sleepwalking though this week!
Sherry Joyce Author & Interior Designer- 2015
Someone once said I managed to open a lot of doors and walk through them. So it appears to be true. Very excited about appearing on a local TV station (more later) called The Story Connection, to talk about my book, THE DORDOGNE DECEPTION and, what has become my speaker's bureau presentation, "How To Re-invent Yourself When Changing Careers." I've had many. Some radio and TV myself, then 35+ years as a HR executive with world-wide responsibility, then opening my own interior design firm, SJDESIGNS INTERIORS, http://sherryjoycedesigns.com, and finally, becoming a romantic suspense author in 2013. Not to stop there, I began feature writing regularly for a local magazine, BEHIND THE GATES, followed by joining the EDAC (El Dorado Arts Council) Board of Directors this year, and also spending a lot of time on the committee for Salute to Valor, our annual golf tournament benefiting veterans in El Dorado County. We have two more adopted Westies in our family, Abby and Effie, added to our existing family of a 14-yr. old senior Westie, Kelsey. In my free time, I golf during the week, participate actively in two book clubs, and enjoy the SF Music Circus Theatre in the summer. Never a dull moment, I'm now a member of the TDC, the Top Down Club, for women over 50 who enjoy driving convertibles and fast cars. Will blog again when I know exactly when the TV show will air. Best news...if the TV interview goes well, I will get a video clip to post on FB, here, and my author website, http://sherryjoyce.com. |
